WoW Item Upgrades
The most commonly used term for item upgrades is "upping"--are enchantments and items that can be put on armor and weapons, increasing their power. These upgrade items add a number of points to the level gauge for the item, with the cost increasing with their popularity.
A perfectly formed version of this armor is highly prized in the melee PvP community for its ability to reduce weapon damage.
Type-restricted upgrades
The process of upgrading is an essential part of the crafting process. Upgrades can improve an item's stats or make it stronger, or even give it an added benefit. They can also change the appearance of an item. Some upgrades are universal, whereas others have specific rules for weapons and armor. The wrong upgrade can ruin the weapon that was previously excellent, and could even render it useless.
As a rule you can only upgrade the equipment you have to the level of its highest-level counterpart. This means that you can only upgrade helms, body armors, shields and gloves to the level of their highest-level counterparts. Weapons however, can be upgraded to the level of a sword. This doesn't increase the weapon's power of damage, but can reduce the value of its trade.
To upgrade an item you must spend flightstones and crests. The amount of each depends on the item's level and slot. Upgrades to swords, for example will require more flightstones compared to an upgrade to the Cloak. Also, you can get discounts on the number flightstones or crests needed to upgrade an item.
The diamond-shaped indicator on an item is filled up when it is upgraded. Each step increases the Tier level by one-third. The maximum Tier level is Tier 3. Based on the item, it may take a different number of upgrades to reach this point. It is important to remember that any process that can mount a disk should not be performed when upgrading. It is also important to ensure that the disk you are upgrading is not being used as a system drive.
Enchantment is a feature that allows you to transform white or Common items into blue or rare ones. Eleanor's Enchantment Shop, located in the Capital District is where you can do this. This process does not add gem or rune slots to the equipment, however, it alters the size of the equipment. It increases the size of the equipment by the size two categories smaller. For example the size of an armored Stormtrooper armor is Medium and Blaster Pistol Small.
Universal upgrades
Universal upgrades are upgrades that can be used on any kind of equipment. This includes armor and weapons. Upgrade components can be obtained from Random drops or side quests. Universal upgrades can be permanent or temporary and can also be combined with Power-Ups. They may be linear or branching.
Universal Upgrades start when "internal technology" can give sentient beings new capabilities that are unlikely to develop naturally. Examples of internal technology include prostheses or implants. This type of upgrade is different from medical internal technology which seeks to restore natural capabilities. It's the beginning of an era that will change civilizations fundamentally. The universal upgrade is a tense process that may take several years to complete. However the process can be divided into two different classes: full success and partial failure.
This is similar to how resort upgrades work at Disney and Universal. In the case of WDW these upgrades are usually due to operational reasons like overbooking or room availability. In the case of Universal this could mean to move guests from one resort to another that is open. This is not meant as a sarcastic comment however, given the current situation, it could be difficult to avoid.
In contrast to Runes, Sigils and Jewels, which can only be applied to specific kinds of equipment (armor, weapons or trinkets) universal upgrades can be applied to any gear. They can also be applied to several items at the same time. This makes them more versatile than other upgrade types. This flexibility can be a problem when upgrading items on a specific gear path. It can increase the level of items for all items on the path.
Before performing an upgrade, it's important to stop the PowerShell Universal service and delete the existing application files. After that, you can install the new files using the Get-ChildItem -Recurse or Unblock-File commands. To make sure that your PSU server is functioning properly it is also recommended to perform a basic validation.
Jewels
Jewels can be incorporated into weapons, armor or accessories. They give varying stat bonuses and secondary effects depending on the gem and reagent used to make them. They can be found in Golden Chests, Rift Incursions as well as V Blood Carriers and other regular enemies, or can be purchased from a Master Craftsman in exchange for karma or gold. Jewels can also be crafted on a jewelry table with one gem and five of the same reagent to create a jewel of a higher or lower tier; this process is similar to upgrading a gemstone with the use of a gemcrafting table.

Jewel tiers are determined by the number of modifiers that they possess. Jewels of higher tiers are more than lower-tier jewels. The primary effect is determined by a jewel's tier, while the secondary effect is random. The players can use luck potions to increase their chances of obtaining better secondary effects.
Jewels can be incorporated into objects with sockets that match as with other upgrade components. For instance Garnet Pebble (gemstone) and an Adorned Garnet Jewel (jewel) both add strength, however the Garnet Pebble will only increase regular hits while the Garnet Jewel also boosts the player's strong attacks. Jewels can be placed in all armor, weapon and accessory slots. They also work with some exotic trinkets or lower rarity trinkets that require a slot.
Like other DM mechanics, gems help to ensure that items feel special to their owners. By offering a variety of different upgrade options jewels let players alter their equipment to find the right combination for their needs. They can upgrade their gear by purchasing new gems if they feel that the original set is no longer suitable.
Requirements
WoW's item upgrade s allow players to level up the levels of their equipment set pieces, weapons, and trinkets above their current level of item from specific Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor sources. These upgrades boost the stats of items and some also have special effects. (For example Dolphin's grace gives swimmers the same grace as dolphins). These upgrades can be obtained by upgrading items or salvaging them. Different items drop different upgrade components.
The upgrade process is somewhat complicated, but it's simple. The player selects the item that he would like to upgrade, and then clicks on the Upgrade button. A window will appear with the various upgrades available for the item. This window will display the upgrade level, any upgrade type bonus (such as Tech Points or Quality Chance) and the cost of the upgrade. The upgrade type bonus will be shown below the bar which shows the upgrade level.
If a player chooses to upgrade the item, the item will be brought to the NPC who is upgrading who will explain how to upgrade the item. The player then has to provide the appropriate currency needed for the upgrade and may be required to supply additional materials if necessary. The requirements for this are determined by the level of the item. Weapons are more stringent when compared to armor.
Many upgrade recipes include the list of acceptable material in addition to the components required. This list lists the other upgrade components can be used on the item, and also includes an indication of whether the item has a guaranteed boost or extra effect. This is important because the value of an upgrade may differ greatly based on its 'extras. For instance, perfectly rolled gear can be worth much more than the non-upgraded version.
The list of upgrades that require crests or valorstones will be shown in a separate list below the main list. The crests and valorstones required depend on the level of the item, with weapon upgrades requiring the most Valorstones.
