Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in a linear increase in a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at one time to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or by increasing the rarity or mark level. In addition, many items can be reforged, which could increase their stats.
Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The main way to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components, which are components that can be inserted into equipment. Glyphs

The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them even more effective at conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs also improve the recall of messages by creating an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by but not the amount it actually improves it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you are creating it for.
Most upgrade components inserted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
If you take an item off after adding a glyph, the shards of the glyph will disappear. You can also apply the glyph to your equipment to add an extra benefit. Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and also its level. Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl is diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to allow players to pay for it with cash or food items which will allow players to make changes to their builds without spending too much time. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. They plan to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade that increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. If you're lucky the upgraded item will be at the highest level of its upgrade track, and will unlock an additional benefit. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level though. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.
Depending on the item's level of base and upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change as well. For example an item that has been upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an outstanding one can be expected to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
