World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.
In the final game, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Using the Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
item upgrading for items allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a problem, as it can cause the item to become more expensive if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it could waste a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded several times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade item s allows players to increase the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every each time you upgrade an item, it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert to its initial condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned, such as chances to be crit attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Players will still have to carry every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
